SINGAPORE — Marcus Chin has spent 43 years in the entertainment industry. And come October, the veteran DJ and variety show host will have two hours to tell you all about it — at Love 97.2FM’s Comedy Night.
“My expiry date is nearing,” the 60-year-old joked, in an interview with TODAY. “It feels like time just flew by.”
Fans can look forward to a variety of skits, songs and jokes at Chin’s standup comedy show, which will also feature appearances from Love 97.2 DJs Wendy Tseng, Dennis Chew and Chua Lee Lian.
“I will talk about what happened during the different stages of my life, how I entered the entertainment industry, how I started releasing my albums, how I was banned from television, and how I returned — I’ll start from the very beginning,” said Chin, who also celebrates 10 years in radio this year.
The comedian added that he has no intention of shying away from controversial topics, and will be addressing his marriage and relationships. Chin previously made headlines when he left his wife for a woman who is 32 years his junior.
Chin also revealed that Comedy Night will likely be his last standup comedy show for the next few years, as he wishes to pursue other goals.
“Actually, because I host (Channel 8 singing competition for seniors) Golden Age, my dream is to hold a concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the elderly,” he said. “I think I should hold a farewell concert, so it would be meaningful. I hope to do so by the time I am 70 years old, preferably when I’m 65.”
Comedy Night will be from Oct 4 to 6 at SOTA Drama Theatre. Tickets from S$38 to S$88 at Sistic.
