SINGAPORE - Taylor Swift has a tendency to be a little effusive giving thank-you speeches but some are calling the one she gave at the 58th Grammy Awards one of the best when she won for Best Pop Vocal album.

What? You didn’t see it? That’s because it was given out even before the show began.

Swift, who won the first Grammy of the night for her best-selling 1989 album wasn’t in the audience when the pre-telecast trophy was handed out. Guitarist Jack Antonoff, who worked as a producer on the album, called her on the phone as he picked up her trophy. (Some of the Grammy Awards are handed out during a pre-telecast before the main show begins.)

“What?! We won! We won Pop Vocal Album,” she shouted.

Then she asked if fellow nominee James Taylor was in the audience. Swift added: “Can you tell James Taylor I love him?”

Swift kicked off the main show proper with an energetic opening performance of Out Of The Woods decked in a black sequin jumpsuit. She also won Best Music Video for Bad Blood, with Kendrick Lamar, who has racked up several other trophies thus far, including Best Rap Album (for To Pimp A Butterfly), Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (These Walls), Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.
